Chillers

Well the used chiller I purchased ran about a month and gave out so I am looking at purchasing a new one as soon as possible. I am looking at the Current Prime 1/3 HP and the JBJ 1/3 HP in-line units. I have a Apex so do not really need a controller built in but that seems to be the only way they come. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

i like my JBJ chiller its fairly quiet and i think its one of the best looking ones if you cant hide it. only thing that i can see wrong with it is that the temp is about .2-.5 off my apex even though i calibrate both of them.

You can set your chillers setpoint low--like 70--and then use your controller to control the chiller.

I have a JBJ as well. They're decent machines as far as I can tell.

The power draw need for a 1/3hp chiller I would put it on a dc4 HD. combined with the lights heaters and etc. I would think you would exceed the 15 amp max on the EB8

I also have a JBJ and Apex controller, but not using the controller to control the chiller. I have had the chiller for 4 years now without any problems.

I have two EB8's, so the amps for it are not a problem for the controller. I was leaning for the JBJ also since it is about the same price as the Current and has a two year warranty. Time to order! [smilie=clapping.gif]

Yeah, I'd be inclined to let the chiller control the temperature. The JBJ's are likely to be with 2 or 3 degrees accurate. The hysteresis is 2 degrees.
