Chiller when to have the freon checked

I have a chiller that is taking a long time to cool the tank. I have a 75g with JBJ 1/4 chiller.
How often does the freon or anything else need to be checked?

shouldnt need to have freon checked as it is sealed. i would clean the condenser might have dust clogging air passing throught it. also you can run a vinegar solution to clean the gunk inside the chiller

you can pump a vinegar solution through the chiller instead of your tank SW to help clean any aquarium gunk that might have built up over time...not inside the freon lines of the chiller itself.

+1 like they said and take it outside and give the coil in the front a good washing let it dry out a bit before plugging back in. You wont hurt a thing by washing it down.

Also to correct some people the refridgeration side is not a completely sealed section they use compression fittings on the heat exchanger side which are prone to leak over time as the gas that is used R134a is the most porus gas there is and can leak throught the smallest of holes!
