Chili Coral Question

My wife bought us a Red Chili Coral. It was mounted on a LR (small). We were told by the LFS that it doesn't need a lot of light and to place it in the entrance to a cave or shaded area of the tank. Well no matter where I put it we cannot get it to stay. It seems to slump to one side or the other and then fall out of pleace. I have it in the sand at the moment but it still is slumped over? It appears healthy and has good color so I dont think it is having any issues other than it just dont feel like standing up.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Thanks Matt.

I was considering letting it hang down. I wasn't sure it that was ok or not. I do spot feed all my speciality items and use a Coral food mix as well as DT.

These are similar to suns corals as far as when they open. They tend to open at night so they do kind of "slump" during the day. I had one in my old tank for a long time and they are very pretty. During the day it looked like a finger leather does at night. :p You could use an epoxy to "fasten" the rock it is mounted on to the spot you want it to stay.

I have a Carnation version, and discovered that it liked it a lot better when I put its rock verticale, with the coral itself parrallel with the ground. It stays infalted most of the day, as well as at night, and is even starting to spread (or another little on eis growing nearby). I've found that feeding a little bit of Phyto and Daphnia once a week (not on the same night) keeps this coral happy. (or at least apparently happy) Very pretty strong orange, yellow, and brigth red orange. Love it!
