chemiclean and biopellets

i am having a sudden cyano bloom on my sandbed and i am considering using chemiclean to fix it. I have read how it is a bandaid but i believe i know the reason for my bloom. I increased the flow to the pellet reactor by probably double (bad idea). Apparently after some research i believe that this increase sloughed off a large carbon and bacterial dose in the system. All at a time when my skimmer wasnt performing at its peak. It has since been replaced. Now im fighting the cyano and i have never had a problem like.this before. The tank has been up almost exactly a year now and i have been running npx pellets for probably 8 months now. All parameters read good but.im sure since the cyano is there then something is.feeding.it so im getting..false readings. I am considering using chemiclean but i am worried about thereaction of the pellets and chemiclean. I also have considered microobacter7. Any opinions? I also read of a user of chemiclean that put one drop per day in instead of using the recommended dose and had good luck withput driving the skimmer crazy.

Sorry for the typos im on my phone.
Thanks
Brandon

I dosed my tank with chemiclean over the weekend and left my skimmer off for 48 hours. Did a water change yesterday, turned skimmer back on and it went crazy for about an hour but during that time, I just drained the cup into a 5 gallon bucket and replaced the water being drained with new SW. Now the tank is super clean with no signs of cyano.

You can dose Chemi Clean or RedSlime RX while running biopellets - no reason to worry.

You should be dosing bacteria regularly. MB 7 is fine. Use it every week, and with that dose the cyano issues you've seen should stop, unless your feeding are loaded with extra goodies. Rod's Food is potent, and overfeeding with that one will definitely cause a bloom. I have to try to resist the urge to use a lot of it.

What is the "correct" amoumt to feed of Rod's Food?

The best advice people give is "a little bit goes a long way." Underfeeding with that brand is helpful, and if you want to add more bulk, toss in some mini-mysis or nori as well.

Hmm, good advice. I tend to feed more heavy, but want to start running my systems a little cleaner. Thanks for the hint!

Thanks for the suggestions. I think im going to go ahead and chemiclean it now then begin with an mb7 regimen. Have yall been using the full dose of chemiclean or just a partial?

Full dose. And after 72 hours if it isn't visibly gone, I dose again and wait longer. Once I can't see it, it's time for a water change, turn on the skimmer, and refresh the carbon.

Not necessary, but I always run carbon so it's just what I do after the treatment. It pulls out any residual discoloration.
