Chemi-Pure question?

I'm considering buying chemipure because I hear a lot of people talking about it and good reviews. If I was to buy it, where do i put it in my tank? In my skimmer at the bottom or in my overflow? I'm a noob so any advice is appreciated.

You want to place this in a spot that water can't go around it when it gets some algae buildup (ultimately going to happen when you have water rushing over something). If you have a media box or bubble trap in your sump or a media reactor, you can put it here.

Not in your skimmer.

If it gets clogged and causes issues with the drain, it could easily cause overflowing. I would prefer somewhere in the sump before there unless you diligent on making sure its not clogging the return. I had a media basket I put mine in so the water had to flow through it. Of the two options, I like putting it in the baffle better, for the safety of it. you can also throw it into a reactor with carbon or GFO, etc.

Ok well I'm going to have to look up everything you just posted because I just setup my tank about a month and a half ago. Would some pics of my whole setup help?

I placed mine where at the drain. i have it set up so all the water drains into a container and on it's way up and out of the container into the rest of the sump, it passes through the chemi-pure and filterfloss

Out of curiosity, why Chemi-Pure? It's just carbon plus DI resin. If you get the Elite version, it also has GFO in it. You could just get carbon and GFO (you don't need the DI resin if you use RODI water) and save some money, and have more control over the quality and how often you change it out.

I'm new to the hobby and was having algae issues and just read that everyone uses it to clear the water better. But I don't know where to put it in my tank so I don't think I'm going to buy it.
