check valves

Hey, I work at a sprinkler supply warehouse and I know that we have the flapper checks, and I believe the best place to buy loc line is either at a lfs or online.

I get my loc-line at Customaquatic.com. I don't use check valves because IME they *will* fail and I feel they add un-needed back pressure as well. If you do want one though, you can pick one up at home depot. There are aquarium specific ones, but thier not a lot better.

Just like your toilet flapper plug thing will leak eventually...so will a check valve, the problem is as long as things always work, you never know how or when you will find out.

Drill some air holes in the returns, use proper overflows and a properly sized sump, and you will never need a check valve

Just be sure you dont buy the ones from hd that have the metal springs in them, I couldent find any with flappers at hd, I would have to agree though, they will eventually fail, I used to run them on my tank, but I did some over the back plumbing that prevents my tank from draining.
