Cheap scraper

Hi Ken,
I like your scraper mod! I'd like to try this one. Are you using a heat gun to heat the acrylic up? What did you use to secure the acrylic to the magfloat?
Lastly, where did you get those black thumb screws at? I have looked at Lowes and HD for them before, but haven't found any locally.
Thanks for posting this one!

Looks like it works great!! I would like to see more. How did you heat the acrylic? what did you use to make sure you had a 45 degree bend, or did you just eyeball it?

Heat gun will work fine.
I used Loctite super glue to glue it to the magnet.
To bend it I cut a piece of wood at 45*, place the acrylic strip on top then press it down.
As for nylon screw, try Gainger in Plano or come to my work, I will give you some.

anyone try this on scraping off coralline algae from Acrylic tanks?

also, anyone make one of these and not use it anymore? I would like to buy it from you if so.

I think it would be best to dispose or clean the blade off real well then dry and store until it's needed again.

BTW I made one of these and it rocks. Thanks Ken!

If you want to use it on acrylic or don't want to remove from the tank, make an acrylic blade which is very simple, not effective as metal blade though but will get the job done.

I have been looking for some of those thumb screws like that for another project. On the Grainger site it says that they are all white, I want the black ones like you have. I am also looking for the nylon flat nuts as well. Where do you get yours from?
