Changing from 150 W to 250 W ?

72" Aqualight Pro 3x150W HQI/4x96W PC/4x1W Lunar
This is the light fixture i have, is it possible to change one of the lights,like the center one to 250W? If i change the ballst of course.
And what are your thoughts on having two 150 W and one 250 W in the center? TIA Jesse
 
i am pretty sure but dont quote me on this that the 150 and 250 have a different base mainly the length but it may be posible to just spread out the base. But why would you want to have a brighter bulb in the middle. The color even if the same brand might be off just a little but shouldnt.
 
I am leaning toward getting more SPS. And i really dont have to money to change the complete fixture. So i thought i could change one at a time as i got the money. Just a thought.
 
uhm well you could do that but i find it hard to belive that in a 135 you need more light than 450w of halides. as far as i can tell a 135 is only 18" deep and if its a tall tank on 24" But maybe you could try it with a smaller frag first.
 
Thats interesting. So you look at it as having 450 W of light instead of having 3 150 W. I wonder if there is anyone else that would back this suggestion? I have a couple of sps in the tank now but have them directly under the lights, high in the tank. Thanks for the reply. :D
 
150 hqi arent they round on both ends...250 and 400 are slide in type look like a T...i know some 250 and 400 fixtures all you do is move them out.

I would say no you cant....
 
you know i think you are right. But you could take a socket for a 250 and put it in and take out the 150 socket. The socket i think is less than 20 bucks if you look around for it.

This bulb has the same ends but is 250 W.
 
hmmm i think that is a wrong pic on the one you put down...i have always seen 250 watt de bulbs look like this not the round ends....but you know what they say when you assume
