Catching fish in a reef tank???? Help!!!

Anybody have any ideas on how to catch Black Chromis (Damsels) in a reeftank? Short of tearing it down. We want them out! Trying a fish trap now. Catches the leutinant tang. Damsels go no where near it.

Trapping is the best way.. put it in the tank and keep it there for several days before messing with it. Damsels are tough to remove though.

I used this fish trap in a freshwater tank. I think it could be done for a reef tank as well.

don't feed your fish for a few days then start putting the food in the trap. After a few days of putting the food in the trap camp out and wait for the damsel to eat. It worked for me when I had to remove two that causing me trouble.

When I feed my fish I slowly put the cup of food into the water and let the food flow out. The green chromis would swim into the cup if I let them. I can catch my green chromis by just putting a cup without food into the water and the fish will swim in.
You can try feeding your fish that way and see if they will get used to it.

I've used the trap shown in Incaico's post to catch several pesky damsels, it took a few days to get them all but it eventually got the job done. Since then I've gotten in the habit of straining my fish food through a net after soaking it, and then feeding the fish from the net. That way they always associate me coming to the tank with a net with getting fed.
