Catching a pistol shrimp?

Does anyone have any tips on how I can catch my pistol shrimp out of my tank without dismantling it? I have already tried the water bottle trap method, he seems to be interested in it but never actually makes it all the way into the trap. Also the place where I have to place the trap is very cramped and it is hard for me to snatch it up quickly even if he were to go in. Plus my nassarius snails always make it into the trap before the shrimp does and that discourages him from comming in. So any other tips on catching these things would be very appreciated, tired of waking up to a rearranged sand bed and corals completely covered in sand.

I know how you feel. I actually like watching the shrimp too much to get rid of him, though, so I ended up moving some corals around to areas that aren't so close to his tunnels. He still manages to partially cover one of them every now and then, so I just use a turkey baster to blow the sand off when I see it. Fortunately it's not that often. The sand bed does look more like sand dunes now instead of the nice relatively flat surface it used to be.

I had one in my tank for a year before I found it when i was moving my tank. I never saw it :) so why do you want to catch him? Not gonna fry him up are you?

I'd recommend luring him to an open space in the tank (with a type of food he really likes), then have a net on hand in the water so when he tries to eat you can put the net right over him.

lol good luck Origin I would put a bounty on mine to get him caught, they are kinda cool to watch until it is in your tank you are watching mine has completly tore up the bottom of mu tank well you have seen him when you were here I think you will need to remove all rock to have a chance at getting him or maybe dangle a goby over a net lol good luck
