cardinal battle scar or problem?

My cardinal just got this lip problem in the last couple days. He is acting ok and eats with everyone else. Not like he has been super active in the month and a 1/2 that I have had him but seems to swim around ok. He will take a swipe at the blue green chromis once in a while but no one has noticed him having problems with any other fish. Is this a worse problem than just a simple boo-boo that will go away? Don't mind the bubbles in the pic....new skimmer.

In my experience thia appears to be a battle scar. If the fish had spots else where or this one spreads I would worry but for now I would just watch it carefully.
