carbon question

I rinsed a 1lb canister of carbon out a month and a half ago, and only used like half of it in my Phosban 150.


I drained the water off and put the wet charcoal back in the canister.

Now it's time to do a change, and I realize that carbon has been in it's canister wet for 2 months.

Is it safe to go ahead and rinse, and use it ?

It's probably ok but may not be very effective anymore. A lot of the interesting articles on carbon mention is will absorb continuously until it's pores are filled, either from the atmosphere or hydrosphere.

I have found that carbon is really only good for a week.. then it's exhausted. I have however found a really good brand that lasts for 2 weeks. It also has very little dust.... and my water is crystal clear after only using it for 2hrs in my reactor. Check out this link.. this is some awesome carbon:
