Me and My husband are moving and about to start breaking down our tank but we don't know how to get our anemone of the glass he come on a shell so if anyone has a secret they can share that would be great!! Thanks!!
I've always used powerheads to irritate them to the point where they start to move... U could try that.. I've even heard some people rubbing big chunks of ice at their foot (I dont recommend this but I'm no expert)
Recently, i removed 20 plus of them out of the rocks. Use your finger nail or your finger, very slowly, i mean Slowly to lift a little bit of the edge, then Slowly to "peel" it until it let go. Take very careful step not to damage any tissues. There you have it. Have fun.
Rocky's method works great. I have used it many times to remove my anemones from the glass for for propagation. I do just as he said. I start the peel very carefully with a fingernail, then I very slowly and carefully roll my finger around the rest of the base peeling it off the glass.
I am not sure how Rocky could have done this on a rock, but it works great on glass. I have never had luck forcing an anemone from a rock. That always requires shading and a good powerhead directed at it's base.
I've even used the blunt side of a plastic knife to gently pry up a tiny bit of the nem from rock, and then gently tease with my fingers.. massaging and stroking more and more of the foot up.
