Candy cane coral question

A quick question? I was lucky enough to win a Candy cane coral at the
last meeting's raffle, and i was wondering where most people put this coral in their tanks. It seems like i see a lot of pictures of them in the sand bed. Also is there a special suppliment to feed this coral. I currrently dose phtyo. and calcium But nothing else

Candy cane are filter feeders - at night, you can see the "arms" waving around, collecting food. I never fed mine anything special.

I also had mine wedged in the rocks, about half way up a "tall" tank. VHO lighting is okay for these, and too much MH will cause burning, so not too close to the lights, I would think.

thanks for the reply kitty, I moved it down to about halfway, it was probably way to high up, i also see the tentacles coming out now , pretty cool.
thanks

I have two. One stays in the DSB because it has a pretty long root. The other is wedged in rock. Mine are under PCs and have grown quite a bit in two months. They've been in low to high current and seem content, although the tentacles seem to stay out more in higher currents.

I feed DTs to everyone about twice a week when the lights go out (that's also when the tentacles come out). I don't know if they need it, but they're "interested" when food is dropped in the tank. If they latch on to some mysis, good enough, but you don't need to target feed.

candy canes can benefit from feeding mysis, and I would do it at night when their sweeper tentacles come out. You don't really need to feed them with mysis, but it definately doesn't hurt.
