Can someone help? Red Prizm Skimmer

I am having trouble with my red prizm skimmer, I do not seem to be able to get any water flow to come out, It is used so it may be just not working, I took it apart , and it turns on but does not suck any water, are the blades suppose to spin like a wheel? the blades seems like its trying to spin but seem to go back and forth, is it suppose to do that? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, I spent very little on it and got some other good stuff at a super cheap price so Im not too upset if I cant get it to work, Thanks

I have one on a frag tank someone gave me. I am assumming you filled it up with tank water already. Once that is done you have to block off the air tube. You can hold your finger over it or move it to the block off conncector. There are two place that the air line can be connected on the cup. One is blocked and the other sucks off the collection cup. Once it is pumping you want to connect it there so if the cup fills up it will cause the airline to suck in water and keep from overflowing the cup. The little black valve is used to control the flow and that controls the air bubbles also. To get it primed you want it open all the way. This is hard to see once the tube gets dirty. Just have to play with it. Once it is going move the air line and adust the valve till the air bubbles are at the bottom of the neck. It is a pretty low flow on mine. I have found it best to unplug it to empty the cup, then to just block off the air tube to start back up when plugged back in. I much prefer a bakpak skimmer for a cheap hangon. As far as the impeller going back and forth most little pumps will do the when the ends is off. When put together and submerged they run one way. It will produce some skimate when adjusted correctly, but it does fill up with just water very easily. Hope this helps. Maybe someone has a set of the real directions they can post. My did not have any with it either.

From one Jimmy to another, Thanks, I had not covered the air hole and that sounds like it may do the trick, I'm gonna try when I get home today and see if that works. Cross your fingers for me.........
