Can coraline growth on temp probe causes inaccurate reading

For the past 2-3 days, I have ntoiced that my tank temp is above 81-83 degrees, but when I put my hand in there it doesn't seem to be warm at all. I do notice that my temp probe have a lot of coraline growth in it. I was wondering if that afect the accuracy of the reading ?

thanks

Stan

I can't say that it does or doesn't but my temp. probe has been giving me an accurate reading since I put it in 8 months ago and is covered with corraline. I have an old fashion glass thermometer I occassionally use to make sure it is accurate and it seems to be.

I don't think it would affect the readings on your tank. What kind of thermometer are you using? I always used a floating thermometer becuase it drifted around the tank and I felt like the reading was more accurate becuase of that.
