Can anyone plumb a tank?

Guys I had a leak on my 150 gal and it is being repaired. While the tank is at the shop, I wanted to clean up my sump and make it cleaner so I wanted to have my plumbing re-done. What I wanted to know is, I have seen some nice plumbing work done on tanks. I am not looking for anything fancy but there is a guy here spoken about here on DFWMAS that is a plumber and charges $70 hr and he furnishes everything. I don’t have any experience plumbing. I was looking to free up the extra pumps in my sump from GFO and GAC reactors and my chiller and the guy stated he could tie everything into my return pump. Anyways just wanted to know is there a science to plumbing. Would you do it yourself or would you get someone experienced. Thanks for your help!

There is some "science" to it, but if you have some DIY skills you can usually get it figured out.

Here's a thread that could help eliminate some issues if you DIY:

If you're not a DIY and want someone to install it then the True Plumbing sponsor on the board is recommended (Oh and members get a discount... [smilie=wink.gif] ).

Eric is a pretty cool dude and will save you about 100 trip's to Home Depot. It will be well worth a couple hours of work and will be just like you want it.

Cheers,

So $70 hour is worth it? Also a typical plumbing job on should take how many hours? Also has he done work for any of you all?

He has done plumbing work for me, on my kitchen drain- not tank. Very quick and efficient. I posted a thread about it in his sponsor forum.

If you ask he could estimate a time I am sure.

Eric is absolutely worth it, he can actually save you money in the long run. I spent double or more what he charged the first time i tried to do it myself. Spent way too much time on it as well. He came over and knocked it out in just a couple hours and it has worked beautifully ever since. Definitely give him a call and save yourself the headache!

Supposedly it includes everything except for the overflow bulkheads...
