calcium reactor help .. again

Okay , I finally ordered my parts from Geo and they shipped them out pretty quick only problem they shorted my 1 item but it was just for back up so no big deal.

Okay here's my new dilemma in the picture I posted let me know if I have everything hooked up in the right direction.

#1 - is the Mj1200 feeding the reactor thru a 3/8 hose into the first barb fitting. ( pretty sure I am right here )

#2 - is where the CO2 tank is feeding the chamber of media from the top barb fitting.

#3 - is the fitting feeding the small container leading into the tank. it carries the circulating water from the chamber.

#4 - is the barb coming out of the small chamber with the long piece of tube submerged under water feeding the tube going into the tank.

[PROBLEM] -

When I turn on my CO2 tank the water level goes way down almost to the media. How much CO2 I am I suppose to be letting into the chamber ?

You can see in the picture the first gauge isnt even cracking 10 and the water level shot straight down.

You have it hooked up all wrong. Let me see if I can explain. The co2 from the needle valve on the tank should be going into the bubble counter and then hooked into the area it looks like you have the effluent going from the calcium reactor. The effluent goes from the top of the calcium reactor into the tank. There should be a valve that can control the drip rate of the effluent.

You need to put a valve on the output that restricts the flow to a drip.

CO2 should be very slowly put in. Like start with 1 bubble per second.

Lots of issues here. Where you have the MJ going in is where the CO2 should go in I believe. The maxijet should feed in somewhere but not into the recirc pump directly I would guess.

It needs to be something like this.

Output comes from the top, CO2 is injected in the recir loop somewhere, the MJ feeds in somewhere.

Look at page 5 here. All I've ever seen are at least close to this

The co2 should be going through the bubble counter and then in to the calcium reactor it looks like where you have #3 fitting in-between return pump feeding small tube.

Shouldn't the reactor chamber be full with water or is that only for upflow reactors? Where dose the effluent come out of the reactor?

Steve your not helping .

I've read and read the manual still can't understand it and I speak 3 langauges !

It does fill up all the way to the top but when I turn the needle valve on it brings down to the picture but since I have it wired all wrong that is why I guess. Going home for lunch and moving tubes around and will update.

My bad.

The needle valve should not affect the water level in the reactor itself.

I can take some pictures of my setup when I get home if that will help.

yeah , if you could I would appreciate it. I have an older model but anything will help.

will see what happens when I get back from lunch around 130pm.

Okay , tried it at lunch time and I have a problem -

#1 the first picture I show the mj1200 feeding the barb at the bottom. Well it is the only 3/8 barb on the whole set up. Everything else is 1/4. This set up was bought used and came with everything just to plug right back up.

So , this has to be correct. any thoughts ?

In the first pic:

The MJ is in the right place. It's the other tubes that are out of place.

#4 should be coming out of the top of the reactor and dripping into the sump. (Like Rick said)

The CO2 line (from the regulator) should be going into the bubble counter and then the other line will feed back into the reactor. (That is where you control the amount of CO2 going into the reactor. By counting the bubbles) (Like Rick said)

Oh and the reason the reactor may not be filling up water could be due to the MJ1200 having to much pressure on the line. That has happened to me in the past.

cool thanks , Blide.

I'll update after awhile or in the morning. thanks for everyones help. Now keep your fingers crossed for me. Trying to get this settled in and running before the frag swap . I'll be looking for sps frags just a heads up.
