Bulkhead problems

I'm having trouble keeping bulkheads from leaking under the tank. I read you should only tighten them to "hand tight" but I still get leaks. Is it ok to use a wrench to tighten a little more or is there a trick to this?

have you try using an O-ring ? in the automotive applciation, we always use an o-ring or washer seals in between bulkheads.

Try coating both sides of the bulkead gasket with vaseline.. that will let you get the bulkhead tigher (by hand) without displacing or pinching the gasket so much that it leaks.

definetly do not over tighten them as it will crack the glass....i had the same problem I was told to use vaseline also

Thanks for the tips everyone. I think I have them sealed now. I can't say I have alot of faith I won't have a waterfall one of these days but the vaseline seemed to do the trick.
