Bulk Reef Supply - Carbon & PO4 remover

Ladies & Gents,

If you haven't been watching the Men's finals at Wimbeledon... you're missing greatness!

Anyways, back to my question... As a couple of you know, I'm going to purchase a RK2 this week. It appears that Bulk Reef Supply offers this controller slightly cheaper & I need some carbon and PO4 remover anyways.

Which leads me to my question... which carbon & PO4 remover should I purchase from BRS? Understand that I am not running a PO4 reactor... but just dropping carbon and PO4 remover into a mesh bag and placing it in the bubble tower of my sump. The drain from the overflow box will pour right onto the carbon and PO4 remover.

Looks like they offer some different types of both... what's your recommendation?

Uh... I have read up on all the options. It appears this could be a money driven decision. The top of the line carbon & GFO are rather expensive. I may have to go with the middle grade carbon and GFO and save some $$$.

Either or of their products will be fine. I assume you are going to use reactors for the media? If so, just make sure you get the pellet style GFO and the larger 'granule' type carbon. I got the thin extruded carbon and I don't like how it works in the reactor. It clumps real easy.

No, actually I will not use reactors. I just don't have room... I have gotten everything out of my limited space I can. I will be placing a media bag of carbon and GFO into the bubble tower of my sump where the drain enters. It should get plenty of flow and contact.

I'm all set to place an order... but I noticed one thing. Calibration fluid. Seems they have a calibration 7 or calibration 10 fluid. Do I need either for my pH pinpoint probe? Which one do I need?

Is it the Pinpoint Monitor or on a controller? If on a controller you should calibrate both high and low, so 7 and 10. If its just the monitor you can get away with the 7.

what?! no space...i think i saw a couple extra inches on the back of the tank there, that is enough for a phsophate reactor you know :) :) :)

I just noticed it was an option at BRS when ordering the RK2 & Pinpoint pH probe. Didn't know... I guess I can call them tomorrow and ask.
