Bulbs ??

Hi again,,

I purchased a light fixture off of ebay and to my dismay all the bulbs were shattered upon arrival. The fixture houses 2 96W PC blubs and 2 65W Pc blubs. Which combo of bulbs is reccomended?

A. 1 96W Daylight bulb, 1 96W Actinic, 1 65W Daylight and 1 65W Actinic.
B. 1 96W Daylight bulb, 1 96W 50/50, 1 65W Actinic, 1 65W 50/50.
C. ALL 50/50
D. Some other config.

I will be mainly keeping beggining corals and a few fish. Thanks as always for the input.


***ALSO I know this is not the correct forum sectoin but, if anyone has any of these buls old or new they want to sell, please PM me ,, Im not picky since my fixture has no lighting in it at the moment.. anything is fine for the rocks. Straight Pin config. ***

That really is dissappointing. Did you contact the seller to get some of your money back? Either they didn't pack it well enough, or the shipping company should have to pay for the damage.

I would use a 50/50 mixture of daylight & actinic bulbs, but not necessarily "50/50" bulbs. Better to buy daylight bulbs and actinic bulbs. If you buy them online, you might consider buying several at a time, because shipping will be about the same, and you'll have a fresh set of bulbs to replace these when they wear out. I ran my PC bulbs 12 months, but if one breaks before that, you'll need a replacement immediately.

Oh, and btw, buying the rock bottom cheapest PC bulb usually ends up lasting only 6 months. Better to pay for one that costs more because it will be of better quality.
