bubbles with filter sock

I put together my new trigger systems crystal 30" refugium and I'm having a lot of issues with bubbles. the sump is a tight fit and the bubbles are causing the splash back on my electrical equipment. I could move the electrical strips higher but it will still be in harms way. I have tried adding a stand pipe to the bulkhead and the bubbles dont change I have tried different lengths of pipe and even drilling holes to release the air but none of it has worked. Any ideas how to fix this?

TIA

Dan

You posted previouisly that you currently have a Mag 12 on your 70G setup, is this the 70G? If this is the same tank then it sound's like the excessive turnover in the sump/fuge area is the main cause of the microbubbles, you may also run into heat issue with the large mag pump on this setup when the weather heats back up. The normal fuge/sump turnover rate is ~3-5 times, maybe if you throttle back the flow and see if it help's.

Cheers,

maybe I should have posted that the same pump was on a wet dry I didnt have any of these issues. and its not micro bubbles that is the problem these bubbles are far from micro. the filter sock bubbles out of the top like a skimmer. I was wrong about the pump as well it is a MAG 9.5 not a 12 I looked at the wrong box when I posted that prior.

Are you cleaning out the filtersock frequently, as in every two days? Do that for now and see what happens. Heck, do it daily and report back.

A picture would help.

So the drain is submerged....how far is it submerged, maybe trapped air since it's larger bubbles. Any way to have the drain just at the surface and add a 45* elbow so that air can escape.'

I have several PVC tubes I made one is at water level one is above it and 2 are totally submerged. None of them change the bubbles. I tried a different sock and it is a little better. I may add a valve on the drain and the return to try to dial it in.

Is this a RR tank with a durso or an overflow. Valving off the drain is a bad idea, makes it much more susceptible to blockage.
