Brown BTA not doing so well...........

Picked up a Brown bubble tip from LFS. When in the store, it looked to be about 10 to 11 inches across with NO lighting. When i got it home, I but it in my 55 with 220w VHO's. It did ok for the first two days and now looks shribbled up. Looks like its trying to throw up its insides from the center mouth. Since getting him, i've feed him a chunk of reg. uncooked shrimp and also cyclops.

I have two other smaller Gbta and they are doing excellant!

One thing that I did notice was that when I first but the Bbta in, the peppermint loved it! A little too much i think. He started to nip at the Bbta.

Need some help. Is there a dip or something that im not doing right for the large Bbta?

Unfortunately, anemones don't often ship well. When you say it looks like it's throwing up.. are you seeing brown mucousy / smoky substance coming out of the mouth, or are you seeing white stringy material?

If you're seeing white strings, that really is it's guts, and it's almost a goner. If it's a brown substance, it's expelling its zooxanthellae, and is very stressed.

Either way, you're in for a hard road.

well at first it was exspelling little brown mucus (like poo) for the first two days. Now its inside is coming out, white layers with clear (like a multilayered cake)

Is there anything i can do to help ease its pain?

Man, sure seems like that was the quickest waste of 50bucks ever. Shoulda picked up a bottle of Scotch instead. Atleast me and some friends would of enjoyed it longer......well maybe :)

Okay, that sounds like the mouth is gaping / everted. It's not a goner, but it's dang close. If it's not in a quiet flow place, I'd try to move the rock it is attached to to a sheltered, but brightly lit place.

When they die, you'll see white ropy spaghetti like substance coming out of it and it will look like it's meling down onto the rock.

You're going to have to make a decision. In a 55g tank, if it does die, an amemone that large could pollute the tank pretty quickly. Do you have an established QT tank with good lighting that you could move it and the rock it's attached to?

Dont have one, but i do have an empty salt bucket that i could use temporarily.

Do i have to put any iodine or Stress Coat in there?
About how long does it take for it to get better?
should there be some flow in it?
Should i continue to feed?

Hrmm.. you'd want some filtration (even a HOB one) and good strong lighting.. good flow, but not too strong.

No special additives, as we don't know enough about their physiology to know what helps and what might hurt.

well he didnt make it.

after pulling rock with the BTA and putting him in a bucket.

Looks like strong lighting and QT'n wasn't enough to revitalize him.
Good thing I did get him out of the tank though, after he passed, the water was the nastiest smell and look i've just about seen.

Pooring him out in the lawn, the fly's wouldn't even touch him and I still have that stinch in my nose
