Broken Panel On Refugium; White Sand Storm

I have a refugium that is about a 20 gallon Oceanic with a 1.5" drilled hole in the side. While moving the tank, it cracked across the hole. Is it worthwhile to have a new pane cut to size and silicon it in place or best to start with a new tank? Anyone have any suggestions where to go to get the glass? Are the walls of tanks tempered or untempered glass?

Also, I replaced the live sand with pulverized limestone and seeded it with a few cups of the original sand. I have white water now. Can fish and inverts survive in this if all other stats are correct or do I need to wait for it to clear?

Thanks,
ts

If it cracked and not shattered, than the glass is not tempered... Tempered glass doesn't crack, it shatters rather violently (I speak fro recent experience!)

Is this just a standard sized glass aquarium that's drilled? If so, I'd recommend just getting a new one and either drilling it or having it drilled, and not messing with trying to replace the one pane...
