Bristle Worms?

I saw a little critter... in broad daylight mind you, which I could only describe as a 1/2" worm that was bristley... he crawled into a hole on a piece of very dead rock....

what do I do?

bristle worms are good :)

It is just like any other scavenger in your tank. It'll scavenge and keep your tank happy.

Wave at him, thank him for his service and perhaps drop a pellet of food next to him by way of thanks. Just don't pet him :)"]

LMAO ... they have a nice little bite to them. I don't know ... you might be into that sort of thing

do they bite with their mouth or stick you with their prickliness? said:
Their "pricklies" will break off and get stuck in you skin too. It's a little like the really really small cactus thorns. You can't see them very well but you can feel them all too well.

I have three rather large 5 inch (Easy) bristle worms in my 18 gallon tank, is it possible they may hurt my clam? I have lost 2 clams and each time I have seen a bristle worm pop out when I go into to remove the shell?

The bristle worms aren't harming your clams. They are feeding on the tissue after it is dead.

from what I have seen of your other post about your tank is that the clams are dying from lack of light (no halides) and your tank hasnt matured yet to where the balance of chemicals is steady, which usually takes 6 months or more. Clams also need a steady supply of calcium which means you need to 2 part dose daily (and test for these chemicals) or have a calcium reactor setup.

My bristleworms are out every night in plan site and it freaks the wife out as she hates them. She sit in front of the tank and talks to the mithrax crab asking him to attack them.
