This is my version of a Brine Shrimp hatchery. I'm using separatory funnels that I bought on eBay. I use one to do a large batch to feed during the day and the other to do a small batch to feed at night for the nocturnal things I have. So far it has worked really well. I use the same principles as in Marcs' thread on his Hidden Treasures page. I open the valves at the bottom to drain of the hatched shrimp leaving the shells floating at the top. I thought it was kind of neat to come up with something different to see how how it would work.
I also have a 5 gal. tank that I use to grow out some shrimp occasionally just to feed as a treat. I only use spirulina to grow them out. They're slow to grow the first week, but the second week they grow really fast. By the end of the second week they're ready to feed. They get as big as any you see around town. My fish love them. I didn't have much luck growing them out until I started using spirulina. Since then, I haven't lost a batch.
I just started these in the picture. They'll be ready in 48 hours. This will be my fourth batch since putting this together.
