"breeding" mushrooms

Try to slice them in the mouth and Target feed. Idea light placement and water flow for healing and growth.
Splitting is the direct and fastest way to propigate these little buggers. I see standard growth at 2 polyps or so each month, but if'in you want speed then try the slice and dice method. Do not tear the foot off the rock, just slice is up from the foot through the mouth, directly in half and watch DEM clean up and rebuild themselves into, two.

Happy slicing.
ps: Get A-Calfo's book on Coral propigation, it is full of tricks and hints.

[you can get a pair of scissors, and snip clean across the stalk (best when it is at its most elongated). The removed head will attach itself to another rock, and the stump will heal over, and grow one or more new heads.]

[Ivan, trust me when I suggest you don't rush your mushroom propagation. Enjoy your relatively harmless 'shrooms for now, because spread they will I promise.

I've been removing them 20 to 30 at a time lately, trying to protect the other corals in my tank.]

I must agree with Marc. They will be a problem if you plan on housing many other corals. These type guy are great if you want to have many, but there might be a day,(in a month or 12) that you want different species of corals and many zoos, shrooms, zenia and softies, will bother your incoming items. plan for a LONG! future, in placement and growth, because people always have much hassle in this regard, then it is time for the bigger tank and or other/next tank up in size. Be happy with a slow start and lookout for the months and years ahead. Softies are a dime a dozen, don't choke your space with these, unless you are determined to do so, then if so, have fun and start slicing, but siquester them to there own growth area, and keep them on a movable rock, becasue you might want to move them in the future.
Anthony Calfo's book, a must reading, for the basics.]
