Book Suggestions

Im new to the hobby and need a reference book to answer simple questions. What would be the book that all newbies should have on hand as they get started? A bible of the hobby if you will.
Thanks
David

oh i really like Atlas Shrugged .....but you mean aquarium books....i like the pocket guide to fish, and the pocket guide to inverts

I'll recommend three books...

As mentioned, the The Conscientious Marine Aquarist by Robert "Bob" Fenner (the bible of the hobby as you put it), Marine Fishes by Scott W Michael and Marine Invertebrates by Ronald L Shimek.

If you want to add to your library, I'd also recommend Aquarium Corals by Eric Borneman.

Also, check out http://www.wetwebmedia.com/ as a great online resource.

NOT bad talking books, they DEFINITELY have their place, but I'd been in this hobby for 5+ years before I ever got reef info from a dead tree...

There's a LOT of into out there on the web... Here, reefcentral, Melevsreef.com, and just Googling on whatever topic you're interested in learning about.

As far as books-

Conscientious Marine Aquarist by Fenner comes highly regarded (Although I've admittedly never read it)

It can get a bit technical, but I got a lot outta "The Reef Aquarium: Science, Art and Technology Volume 3" by Delbeck and Sprung.

To be honest, the book I recommend is this one:

http://tinyurl.com/y7wbhw

It is expensive (but free shipping) and covers everything you need to know. It came out earlier this year, and is very up to date. Pictures speak volumes, and the index covers a myriad of topics. Definitely a great resource for anyone new & serious about the hobby.
