Blue torts @ fish gallery

[I went to Fish Gallery yesterday and picked up a super nice Bali Aquaculture Yellow Staghorn colony. They had about 6 or 7 Blue Tortutsa frags for $75 each, along with some really really nice encrusting Montiporas]

[There were two blue torts at Aqautic Design in Plano for $50.00. Also if you did not see them, Steve and I went to the Fish Gallery a week ago last Thursday and there was Red Planaria in the coral tank where the sps was. Make darn sure you dip corals out of there or you might end up with some bad flatworms.]

[Rick,

Thanks for the heads up, I inspected the piece before I got it, and didn't see anything on it. I do have a small flatworm problem that I'm currently dealing with. Going to be doing freshwater dips when I get home. Can I do freshwater dips on SPS?? I've been really successful with doing dips on my softies but I guess I hadn't been getting them all. Luckily, the flatworms I have are not red planaria.]

[You certainly dip sps corals, though flatworms will not be on the coral. They will be on the liverock or whatever the coral is attached to. In fact if you buy an sps that is attached to something and it is not to much trouble to get it off the base it is on, then I would do that. Then you can just reattach it somethng already in your tank.
Some flatworms are not as big of a problem as others, they do not seem to multiply as fast. Though the ones we saw in the tank at the Fish Gallery were the bad ones.]

[If you already put the rock in your tank its too late. When we saw them two weeks ago they were mostly around the base of a few corals, hopefully you did not get any. But if you do see them anywhere, I would siphon them out as soon I see them.]

[I dropped by Fish Gallery today... and flatworms aside (I didn't notice but I wasn't looking closely either), they have a decent selection of corals in right now. Better than I've seen in there in the past. Then again maybe I just caught them right after a shipment.]
