Is there a thread or a page that anyone can recommend that gives an updated look at Bio Pellets that answers the following questions:

If you don't have a skimmer I wouldn't recommend biopellets

A skimmer may be in the works ... I have been doing some research of late that shows a skimmer may be necessary ... especially if running bp

I ran biopellets for over 3 years finally took them off

I would try skimmer and refugium and if still have phosphate and nitrate issue the go biopellets. To get most effectiveness you need to dose a bacteria couple times a week. I recommend zeovit zeobak or dr Tim's I do not recommend mb7. Biopellets is same concept as zeovit but without plunging the zeovits daily

And even of you do have phosphates and nitrates I would go natural route first like adding clams.

That small of a tank you really don't need biopellets.

There's a thread on rc where a lab guy that was a hobbyist put some mb7 under a microscope and a Petri dish and under microscope very little bacteria compared to zeobak when he tried that. When I switched to zeobak I could see results in increased skimmate from bacteria "fluff " from the biopellets

When you say clams, are referencing derasa, squamosa, crocea and maxima clams?

Yep any of those clams they filter the water and lower nitrates and phosphates

Maximas and crocea you can buy clam cradle it's like a frag disk but curved so clam can sit in it.

Squamosas can sit on the glass or put on a cradle also they don't attach to anything. You don't want to get too big a squamosa as they can squirt a jet of water
