Biopellet Question

Does anyone know if there are any differences in the biopellet brands out there? Is any particular brand better than any others? Or are they pretty much all the same? Is the TLF NPX Bioplastics the same thing?

Brands that I'm come across are: Vertex, BRS, TLF, NP, Aquamaxx...

and do most of you dose the starter bacteria to get things rolling initially?

Thanks!

I asked the same question on the ReefCentral board. Right now there isn't enough information on the different brands to determine different effects. Since BioPellets react differently in various systems its going to be hard to determine I think. I think most people are using BRS and Vertex. I myself purchased BRS. I'm going to start slow and add as I need to.

I don't like the small kind like vertex or brs carries I find that it clumps to easy. Right now i use Atb biopellets going to add the Warner Marine Eco back pellets

For me I dose 5 ml mb7 M W F Sun and zeovit zeobak T Th Sat 5 drops I just started a week ago. I was dosing mb7 just once a week.

Nothing wrong with smaller type just need to be sure it is tumbling or it will
clump. Some reason smaller ones dissolve faster also

They disolve faster because of increased surface area when compared to the same volume of larger pellets.

Thanks guys. I was thinking about getting a next reef reactor and starting biopellets, but not sure which to buy. I guess I'll try some of the larger ones based on info here and begin the dosing as well.

Pampee, why did you switch from a qweek dosing to 3x/week? experimenting? or better product?

and I've got a mag 7, so this should be good enough for flow i suppose.

Been following sunnyx tank build and decided to dose daily from weekly. From what I can recall he is one of the first reefers to start dosing bacteria on his tanks. So for me i feel he knows what he is doing and proof is in the pictures of his tank which looks amazing to me.

I have seen my corals pop in colors not sure if it is the bacteria or the zeovit products I started dosing.
