Biocube 14 filter chamber configuration

Hi all,
I just picked up a 14 gal Bio cube. For those of you who have these, how have you configured the 3 chambers for filtration? I'd like to hear input on the need for the optional protein skimmer, converting one chamber to a refugium, etc.
I plan to utilize it as a reef tank with both coral and fish.

Here's how I have mine:

Chamber 1 - Heater
Chamber 2 - InTank media basket - Filter floss on top, chaeto in the middle, purigen/chemi-pure on the bottom
Chamber 3 - Return pump

No protein skimmer. The only one that I've ever found that fits is the Biocube skimmer and that would require taking the heater out of chamber 1 and moving it into the display area. On a tank this small, it's just not worth dealing with it. The Biocube skimmer doesn't exactly have great reviews, either. [smilie=smile.gif]
