Bio-Load

I see a lot of new people trying to decide how what type, how many fish, etc. to stock their tank. I though maybe it a good idea for them if some of us gave our tank size and fish bio-load (then perhaps not, but WTH)

I have a 120. I have a medium sized naso tang, a medium purple tang, a large copper-banded butterfly, 2 black clowns and "their" 3 SRTBA, 2 mandarins, and a fairly large pink-spot goby. Not a big bio-load but I feed them well so I always battle nitrates thus I chose to keep my load on the low side

Med Yellow Tang, 2 x Black Ice snowflake clowns, Flame Angel, 3 x Bartlett's Anthias, 2 fire shrimp, 2 skunk cleaner shrimp, 2 strawberry crabs, 1 emerald crab.

Feeding very Heavy. Spectrum sinking pellets twice a day. Nori every other day. Cyclopeze as a mid day snack. Frozen Brine shrimp as a treat twice a week. Half cube Formula 1 twice a week. Coral Frenzy 3 times a week. Kent Zooplex 3 times a week. A fat fish is a happy fish [smilie=rofl.gif]

Heavy nutrients in water column. Got a million feather dusters, 100+ snails, and 30-40 blue legged & scarlet hermit crabs. Algae not much of a problem. Only need to clean glass every 3-4 days. Only nuisance algae is coralline. Hate scraping it off power heads and vinegar baths for the skimmer.

Actinics on 10am-10pm
Day lights on 12 noon - 8pm

60 gal cube 20 gal sump

they eat little tiny ones, aiptasia (and some eat majanos). They won't go near my SRTBA or get stung

Copperband's are as reef safe as you can get as far as butterfly's which translates to "you will probably be ok but you may not be ok".....some of the other species of butterfly's will munch on nem's etc. Keep in mind that some have issues with copperband's going after acan's and such when then get bigger although I have never had that issue.

Cheers,

260g with 250g TWV.

Large Purple Tang, Medium Blue Hippo Tang, 2 x clowns, Goby, Royal Gramma Basslet for fish. I might add one or maybe 2 more tangs tops. 2 x cleaner shrimp, 2 x coral banded shrimp, 2 x RBTA, various CUC, and of course a bunch of corals. Lots of pineapple sponges, feather dusters, and pods everywhere. Small limpets have started breeding as best I can tell as there are more and more of them.

I feed about 3 - 4 times a week with cyclopeeze, mysis, pellets, and New Era mini grazers plus whatever pods the corals and other critters can catch. No issues with nitrates or phosphates and I'd like to keep it that way. A bit more algae now that things have settled in so I have to clean the front glass about once a week although sometimes I can go for a week and half and the back glass starts showing a green fuzzy layer after about a month.

Fox face, Yellow, and naso tang, 2 clowns, 2 wrasses, Blenny, Damsel, 2 cleaner shrimp, 3 peppermint shrimp, sand shifting star, urchin, clean up crew... Total of 37 inches... 215 with - 180 gl of water volume = 90 inches of sustainable based on half inch of fish per gl.
