Beastly LED

So I had plans of making a light much like the Vega at some point for my 24G cube. I just finished the 20W RB and White single chip light for my 14G and didn't feel rushed to jump into my next light. At first I planned on (2) 5W leds in each color. But I just found my way into some free 20W leds and drivers so I'll be using (6) 20W leds [smilie=devil.gif] I won't run them at full power but I'm VERY excited about this.
Colors are
RB
White
Red
Green
UV
and Aqua.

All powered from one driver. I'll have a transistor on each LED so I will be able to dim to my liking as well for sunset sunup and "techno mode".

Pics of first light to follow.

Mr. Lucky. :)

I need some submersible LEDs for my outdoor phyto tank.
I dunno that http://www.petco.com/product/118304/Marineland-Hidden-LED-Lighting-System.aspx?CoreCat=OnSiteSearch is going to be bright enough during the winter.

How deep is it and are the walls clear or solid? I have lined up some hours an a CNC so I bet we could fab something up as a heatsink with a glass/plexi front with a gasket.

I'm waiting for this fabled cold front that is supposed to show up soon and I will take the 5 "spare" glass and acrylic tanks I have on hand and lay them out to see what will go where. Since its going to be on the patio I need some wife buy in as well. :)

I'm looking for something submersible so I don't have to worry about rain and I figure if the LEDs are mounted to the top of the tank or suction cupped to the bottom that it will supplement whatever real sunlight I can get into the tank.

I'm most likely going to spring for a glass versa top for the 29 gallon as the primary phyto tank, so that is 30" x 12" x 18" I'm thinking anything deeper than 18 would be too much. All glass on every side.

I will most likely cut some cheap PVC tops for the L rotifers and pods.

I will start a new thread as soon as the weather breaks. I don't want to derail your current one. :p

So heres a quick video of my current setup. I know i know... I need a better project box.

The 20W shipped out on monday. Hope to see them next week.

TY. I'm still perfecting the lightning. I have 6 fields of randomly generated numbers that relate to how the lightning looks. I'm very close to being happy with it. Also even with how it was in this video it looks 10x better in person. Wanna let me hook on up to your lights?

I have all the extra parts for a second one. How many channels do you have and what is the Volts and Amps of your drivers?

Well everything I have is hooked up to my apex. I was wanting to add a couple 4 ish leds or a couple leds for a lightning storm. Maybe we can get together and I can become your student LOL

from my telephonic tool.

Ha funny. I have an LCD and buttons sitting here waiting to be hooked up. My head still hurts from making this code. But yeah that sounds good. I have the new leds and drivers on the way so you could help me with that in trade. We could toss'em over your tank and see if you wanna upgrade to 20W'ers.

I have been mulling over doing that for awhile but so many negative comments around the net that I decided I would t make my livestock be the pioneers in this venture. Led's driver and labor are cheap but the livestock at stake is a heck of a gamble!
