Ball pickling lime

[It appears as if Ball Corp ( Alltrista Corp ) no longer makes Pickling Lime ( food grade calcium hydroxide ). Anyone know this not to be the case? I found an article online from a lady in Oregon stating that. Cant find the product on Alltrista web site either. Somebody else makes pickling lime but I cant remember who. And where in town can you find it? Any and all help appreciated.]

[Thats it. Thanks Rick. Now who in town generally carries the stuff? My local Albertson's and Kroger sure did not have it.]

[Maybe locally at a Walmart. You can buy 12-1 lb. containers of it shippd to your door for $20 at this site. maybe you could sell the extra to someone else.

[Slightly off topic, but I found this at Albertsons: Morton Canning & Pickling Salt. Can it be used?

Thanks,]

[I buy Ball's (pickling lime :) ) At the Albertsons on Sublett and 287. Just picked up an extra can the other day.]

You may want to go and stock up. Ball ( Allstria ) is out of the calcium hydroxide business, apparently. I found a thread on Reef Central where several people spoke to company headquarters and confirmed. I had to go to three Albertsons until I found it. So I bought six 16 oz cans. I should be good for 1 1/2 years more or less.

I haven't been able to find it at my Albertson's for several months and I am just about out. It is a bit more than $20 though from this place. $15.47 for a case of 12, which is only $1.29 each but then $12.99 for shipping bumps it up a bit high.

Shipping per case drops with each additional case ordered. We would only have to order 2 cases in order to get the price down $2.02 each which would be a bit less than at the store after tax.

Anybody interested in a group buy so we can all stock up?]

[I cleaned out the Albertson's near my house today, only three cans. That should keep me good for a year or so.]

[The Albertson's on University (380 & 75) in McKinney has about 10 cans @ $1.99 left on the shelf if anyone needs more. I didn't ask how many were in the back.]
