Bakpak vs. sealife 150 skimmer - Which one is better

[I'd recommend the Aqua C Remora over a BakPak. I've had both, btw.]

[I have a Bac-Pac 2R that I've been using since early 2001 and have had no problems at all, we do clean it well approximately every 2nd or 3rd water change though. I have been looking for a good used skimmer though because I keep reading some bad things about them and I guess that I'm just scared that it might go out as I'm sure any of them could but I would want to have a replacement if it did :sniffle: .]

[Doris, the skimmer is fine. It doesn't break, but the pump may need to be replaced in the future. The entire unit can be cleaned by soaking it in vinegar and water overnight to renew it again.

I used to run a Bakpak, and installed a wooden airstone in the reaction chamber connected to a pump to increase the bubbles in the skimmer. It did okay, but the Remora did far better.]

[I have the 150 on a 29 gal and really like it. The pump on the 150 needs to be cleaned usually every month or so but other than that the skimmer works well. It will take a couple of weeks to get the slime coat in and stop putting microbubbles in the tank.
