I keep tigger pods (similar to the pods from saltwaterfish.com) in a 6G acrylic tank. I've had pods to harvest for several months, they reproduce pretty rapidly (seems 2-3 week cycle as best I can tell).
The setup:
Old leftover 6G marineland Eclipse tank, no hood, no pumps/filtration. Air pump & air stone. Leave tank open top, oxy exchange is important. I did this in vertical tank and the pods crashed. I keep the tank about about 1/2 full and drew a line with a marker for correct water level. Run a single airstone with no pumps, no filtration. Start with fresh saltwater, not leftover water from your main tank after a water change. Tread the culture like phyto, never introduce a net or other wet stuff from you main tank back into the culture tank. Top off with DI water.
Feeding:
I feed 3 capfulls of DTs every three days or so (when undisturbed water starts turning clear again instead of green).
Temperature:
I don't run a heater (and I suspect that this winter with the house at 70-72 is why they didn't really take off like the batch I had last summer). I bought a Azoo titanium mini heater to use and will probably set it at 78 when winter arrives.
Hope that helps. You most certainly can keep them alive.
