Baby Worms

I just looked at my tank and noticed something I thought was brown algae, but on closer instection with a magnifing glass they were thousands of brownish red worms crawling all over the glass. Maybe 1/24th of an Inch long if that. Will try to get a pic. soon. But if anyone has info let me know.

Thanks
Stephen

Sounds like flatworms.

Thanks Marc, thats what I was thinking too, but they look like little brown inch worms. I have tried to take a picture of them but they are too small, and you cant tell what they even look like. I dont have a micro on my camera.

Try looking at my ID page, on Page 1 at the first subheading.

They might be 'swimming worms'.

I have what appears to be these same worms. They are incredibly small (about 1/16th-1/8th) and move like inch worms as decribed. Mine are in a 3 gal QT I set up for some snails, LR & hermit crabs. They are all over the glass. I have hesitated transferring everything from the QT to the main display because I have not been able to identify them yet.

Marc, I have not seen them on your id page. Maybe when we ID the critters you can take a picture for prosperity as they are too small for my digital camera :(

Upon re-inspection mine seem to have a 'ball/dot' head and are tapered at the tail. Do these sound like yours Stephen?

Stephen,
do your worms look like this?

feasible,

Thanks for the photo. The worms I have are brown- red, and so small I can't make out any detail. They were in one place on the glass, about the size of a quarter, then spread out all over the tank. So I think when I first noticed them I believe they had just hatched, so maybe they will grow and I can get more info.

Thanks,
Stephen

Marc,

I also looked at your site, and could not find anything that looked like them. I have used it in the past and it has helped. Thanks for putting it together.
