Baby Reidi Seahorses - Free - All Gone-Thanks

Well... it happened. We've had a potload of baby reidi in the first Reidi batch that we've had. We believe the parents are from the litter mates to Water'bug and TJay's reidi's that have been so prolific lately. I really tried to keep the horses from looking over my shoulder and reading what their brother/sister have been doing lately  .... but alas...word got out and we have about 50+ (so far) baby horses that we will give to someone wanting to try to raise them. We are still raising baby erectus and don't have room/time to handle these yet.
Remember that they need rotifer and baby brine to survive. You 'might' get them to eat freeze dried rotifer and some will survive, but probably not. They really need live food. PM us if you are interested.

Edit:
All the babies are gone. Thanks all.

well dang, soon people will be coming up with threads on how to rid your tanks of pest seahors fry.

I have no idea what is up with that batch of ponies but people tell us that getting them to breed is rare, and getting them to survice is even more unusual.

did yours come right after lights on this morning?

TJay,

I think they did come early this morning as we were about to change water and noticed the overflow sponge saturaged with the little ones. We had just put our new/replacement horse from DracoMarine in last night late and they weren't there then. They have found a new home and I hope they will do OK. I'm going to find the blindfold now and put it on all the boys in the tank. 8) . Maybe that will slow it down a bit for awhile....hehe.

All from both batches are so far doing well. Hard to accurately gauge their status as about all they do is float in circles in the Kreisel but when inverted by the air bubbles they right themselves so we assume they are alive and strong enough to swim.

We are feeding live rotifers (thankfully Donna and TJay had extra - we have the stuff from FL Aqua Farms started now too), BBS (later today we will be trying the decapsulation method Angela posted), and freeze dried rotifers.

It's very difficult to determine which, or even if, they eat. The 1G tanks they are in aren't getting cloudy with waste or excess food. Neither is the 10G but it is still impossible to determine if the smaller tanks clear from water exchange and the larger from filtering or the ponies are eating the stuff. The minute size of the food also makes it a challenge to determine where it has gone.

You can see them jerk when they snick
I turned my bubbles down a lot after I figured out they were having trouble catching the food when the circulation in the drum was too high.
It is a tough balance because if it is week enough for them to catch food some do start collecting on the surface.
I put a light down low on the bowl and that keeps all but a few off the surface and allows the water to move slow enough for them eat it.
