ATB purple pinwheel

I have the octopus extreme 160 with the normal pinwheel on it. How do you get the pinwheel off the shaft? I'm wanting to install the atb purple one. It doesnt look like it just pulls off without breaking it. Anybody know the trick to get it off.

ahh..ok i figured it out. Nevermind :D

Ok..Here is the links to the how to video's. I dont know if these will work or if i put them up correctly.

Takes alot of elbow grease the first time around my suggestion is to put silicone grease on the oring this will make alot easier to take them off the next time around

I'm very satisfied with the octopus 160 extreme. The skimmer is very solid built, nice quality. It's starting to skim pretty well already and its not even broke in. Have had it around three days now. It's running on a 75gallon reef ready with about a 30 gallon refugium. My wife thinks im crazy to be that excited about skimmate...lol :D

Skimmer must be doing its thing. This is the first time i have ever noticed any tentacles (whatever there called) on my candy cane corals. Coming to the metro area with hard earned dollars this weekend. Need more rock and some pretty corals...ok some fish too...maybe 3 or 4 yellow tangs LOL :D

No i dont have pictures or a descent camera....maybe Santa will bring

The ATB purple pin wheel seems to have smaller more compact bubble's. I almost had an overflow. The regular pin wheel allows you to close the pipe alot more. When i switched it was like overflowing in minutes. Im sure this is old news to most on this skimmer and pin wheel. It is good news too me .....glad i spent the money now. I finally took my filter sock off of my overflow. My algae in my refugium seems to be growing alot more now. The reason i didnt take it off before was becuase i didnt have a skimmer and the sock worked pretty well. I finally fixed the micro bubble issue with the overflow by creating a bubble tower out of my old Aqua C Remora skimmer...lol...it never did skim worth a darn(fairly expensive bubble tower). It was used on my 30 gallon reef. Now i have no bubble's or salt spray..HOORAY!!! Hardly any bubbles at all with the new skimmer. Though it is still breaking in as well.

:D :D Tank has really perked up since adding the octopus extreme 160 skimmer. Skims out some pretty nasty smelling gunk. Glad i bought it now

You can also take that old pin wheel and modify it with mesh. Very easy to do. Then you'll have 2 efficient wheels for your skimmer. It works for me, and man that mesh mod kicks butt and its cheap to do!!

Mine came with the white pinwheel and the yellow sicce paddle wheel. Thats the one i will probably mod if i decide to go with mesh. So far though i dont see a reason to as the purple wheel kicks arse. It makes quite a difference as far as bubble size and density.

I have and Octopus 150. Which purple pinwheel fits, small or large? It came w/ the white one also. It's supposed to be 30% more efficient.

Im not really sure about what one would fit if any. Mine is the octopus 160 extreme skimmer and uses the sicce 2500 pump i believe. So i dont know if its the same wheel size or if they make one for yours. What pump does your's use i forget

Ok i just reread about them and if im not mistaken they only work on the sicce 2500 pump

You could call or e-mail Brandi at Coralvue Service.

I just got the new venturi and the pinwheel impeller for my Octopus NW-200. An upgrade I am absolutely happy with.

**FWIW the one i got for the OTP-3000 pump was white in color.**

Yes the standard pinwheel is the white one. Coralvue has nothing to do with the purple one. Thats made by ATB and i doubt Coralvue would recomend using someone else's pinwheel with there skimmer.
