Arrow Crab

Any suggestions on catching an Arrow Crab out of a reef tank? Mine has gotten too big -- I think he has eaten my cleaner shrimps. Dang it.

The problem is that I have lots of live rock and he can more underneath it all -- man oh man, I dont want to unload all that rock to catch him.

You can build or buy a small trap to catch him. But be prepared to catch everything in your tank before finally catching him. Usually the way it works.

Might try putting a piece of silverside or something meaty at the bottom of the tank in a corner and wait above it with a vaccum hose or net.

OK so I think I put a curse on my Arrow Crab cause he dropped dead today.

He was very big so I guess he was old OR he ate too many cleaner and fire shrimp (4 in all).

Dont have to work about him any more.

Ya sure it didn't molt, after 4 shrimp he was surely outgrowing his current "home". It could be hiding while the new shell harden's.....just a guess. :D

Cheers,

DANG IT?

He laid on the bottom for over a day -twitching. I thought he was done but could not bare to remove him (and dispose of him).

He was gone this morning -- figured another crab or star got him.

NOPE, he is back - hiding under a ledge. I should have scooped him up when I had the chance.

Back to the same problem -- Arrow crab needs to be removed lol

kinda makes you wonder if the arrow ate the shrimp or if you have a totally different problem. A twitching crab doesnt sound right and might have just been a precursor to what is to come. Call me crazy but i have never seen a twitching animal as a good thing but maybe he had a siezure?
