Are these Alien eye zoas?

It looks like them to me. I jut think they will need to color up under proper light. But, you didn't order something that you were supposed to "fix." I feel for you. You haven't had much luck with your orders lately.

William, don't worry. I'm not trying to cause problems.. I just want to see what everybody's got. I don't understand how alien eyes can change so much from his tank to mine.

The bluer one I posted above was from jcigars a while back from a trade. When it arrived, it opened up immediately and looked just like that.
 
Looks like to me that the first picture was taken with only actinic lights and the second one was taken with actinics and MH's.
 
I restored the original pics of the zoas that were for sale. I don’t know what I was thinking when I deleted them, but there back now and I hope this helps. Please if you can post some pictures of the zoas you got. I am going to do so once I get home.

I've had a big frag of alien eyes before, i know what they look like under all different lights, since i've fragged them and put them in my friends' tanks (VHO, MH, and PC). None of my alien eyes look like those above. They are bright blue in all the different lights.

I changed to MH lights. still the same :(

I composed a collage of the alien eyes.

the top left is his.

the middle is mine from jcigars taken under VHOs w/o actinic

the bottom left is from Keith, taken under VHOs w/o actinic

the bottom right is from Keith, taken under MH lights.
I put one of my orange frags in the back to compare the brightness of the colors. The alien eyes just look so different.

Someone else pleeeease post pics of the alien eyes you got from keith so I can see... may be it's just my frag...
 
No picture of mine....yet. they look exactly like Michelle's though. Not trying to make an ordeal out of this either but i can't say i am thrilled about the color. If i saw those in a LFS there is no way i would pay $35 for them. and mine are under MH.
 
Your alien eyes look quite a bit better than mine do. I can't get a good pic, because my zoas havent opened fully yet.

I have them in the bottom of my 105, so they are pretty deep. I'll move them up on Tuesday and see if they will open up pretty.

I do believe I am going to hold off on group buys of livestock for a while, unless I have purchased from the place before. I already have 2 of the variants I just received and the new ones were 1/4 the size and three times the price of the ones I purchased 2 months ago. I didn't know they were the same until I put them in the tank. The other place gave them a differnet name, but they are identical.

Of course, if they turn out to spread like weeds, I'll be happy! :D
 
i did not take a picture but mine look just like yours michelle. the ring that is supposed to be blue is more like a grey. Far from the poping blue in the picture.

I agree this was probably my last gb on livestock minus clean up crew. unless i have proff what i am getting is worth it.
 
Not trying to bring the topic up again. But have your colered up any? Mine where a grey color when i got them. The color is still far from the picture he supplied but i have a very small hint of blue in mine now. But still more grey then blue.

What kind of light are yours in now?

Mine are still at the very bottom of my 105... They are exactly 24in below the water surface and 28in below my 20k 150W MH.

Mine are still gray!
 
you said Michelle but I am not sure if you meant me because my changed colors some. I have mine in a 30G with a 150 DE MH. 14K, with PC atenic.....So it's about 23 in. from the light.
Mine are still far from a blue so don't feel to bad thinking yours are not changing....I doubt they will color up to anything close to the picture.
 
Just an update. Michelle had posted on RC her experince, Well Keith the person that sold us the frags chimed in today. I felt that his message was incorrect and we started some dialog. With out asking he sent me back my money. So if you are not happy please contact him directly and see if you can get the issue resolved.
