[smilie=worried.gif] but my son (without thinking and NO acclimation) put a blenny in DT a few years back. That fish came from The Fish Place behind Ridgemar Mall. Not a big selection on marine fish, but she can order whatever you want ... then she (Lori) quarantines for a minimum of 1 week before she will release to who purchases it.

If I didn't have a quarantine tank ... I do believe I would trust buying and adding fish from Frank's Tanks in Fort Worth (Hulen). I watch his babies grow without any issues. Right now he has the SMALLEST tangs I've ever seen ... several of them ... 1 - 1 1/2 inches. Itty bitty tangs.

I can qt if I have to just don't really have the space and my parents don't like the qt tank lol cause it doesn't have sand. But I am still trying to talk them into it.
I haven't been to franks tanks sounds like it's worth the trip from McKinney!

Some of the stores run copper in their systems as well as Prozypro, but you will have to find a fish that you like and then wait a couple weeks and hope its not going to get purchased to ensure that the fish has been in their system for a while. The time varys depending on what kind of fish you are buying and what you think it potentially might have. Some stores dip them as well.

I personally do not quarantine fish, but I do perform a 10 minute dipping solution that seems to work for me. This way I can just buy what I want if it looks healthy. I have a UV sterilizer on the system running 24x7, and if I need to treat a fish for flukes I have just Prazi'd the whole tank. I dont pIan on getting any new tangs or angels for a while so the big risk of flukes is way down.

As many have already mentioned, most LFSes QT themselves already to some degree, and even if they don't simply having the fish in their display cases is a form of QT. In addition to that, the distributors themselves likely already had the fish in some form of QT already.

Having said that, I personally QT only to facilitate salinity acclimation, raising the salinity 0.001 SG per day. Every LFS I've bought fish from keeps their water at a much lower salinity than I do. I keep my water at 1.025 and in my experiences the LFSes around here keep their water between 1.015 and 1.020, and you risk killing the fish to osmotic shock unless you do a very slow (drip isn't even slow enough in my opinion) acclimation.

Find an LFS that keeps their salinity at the same level you do and I think you'll have the best success at not QTing!

ReefRemedies keeps their fish system at normal reef levels and doesn't run any copper or medications. I've had the best luck with fish from there.

Pet city is not to far from you. He qt all his fish before he puts them up for sell.

I was just at Frank's tank for the first time this past weekend looking for a 3/4" loc line nozzle, He didn't have one in stock, but the one he had was used and offered to give it to me for free(how cool was that?) Then afterwards, he had the lady at the counter write down to order more so they would have it in stock for the next customer. Hundreds of sps frags.... a Really cool Black and White Maxima Clam. and yes, his fish looks healthier than any fish store i've seen. Customers just sit around relax and chat there. the staff is very helpful. I didn't end up buying anything because of other errands, great experience.

+1 for Pet City He has all the info you need to know about the fish on the sticky note, like when it got in, water change and stuffs. Limited on stock, but healthy.
Never been to Frank tank before, but heard nice things about them.

I went there today amazing healthy fish I would buy from there! Little higher priced than most places but couldn't find one thing wrong in the whole shop.

Is it walnut and Forrest? I bought cichlids from a little fish store over there about 10 years ago. I couldn't for the life of me think of the location....
