AquaSurf & DIY Wavebox

I am trying to understand the programming language of the AquaSurf. Any help would be appreciated.

For those that want to help me, here is the link where I reading my information.
Link: http://www.neptunesys.com/index.php?...d=49&Itemid=48 Scroll down to AquaSurf Owner's Manual and click it.

On Page 5-6, I am wanting a wave in my tank. According to the example, it states the following:

If Time > 00:00 Then PMP PF1
Pmp Mode sD for PF1
[PmP Int 030/100 for PF1]
PmP OSC 00/05/05

I am trying to understand why you would want your Pmp Int at 30/100 ? Wouldn't you want to have it set at 00/100 ?

How does the box fill with water if it is constantly running?

I have tried both scripts

Pmp Int 00/100 & Pmp Int 30/100

This is really frustrating!!!

Usually you do 0 but the pulse length is what you adjust. I wiil talk to you about it tomorrow

Pampee may have already set you straight but:

The pump intensity basically controls how big you want the wave to be. You are correct, to get the biggest wave, you would want to go from 0-100. However, Tunze used to have problems with their pumps where going from off to on causes the pump to click, and keeping the minimum intensity at 30 basically keeps the pump running so the clicking never happens. Note that they also don't recommend any intensity between 1 and 29 (inclusive). As Roger explained to me, at speeds less than 30, the pump is very unstable and basically wobbles, just like a top or gyroscope does as it slows down, causing lots of stress and wear on the motor.. It's OK to go to 0, but don't use anything from 1-29.

As Pampee mentions, to get a wave going, it's the pulse length that does the magic. For my 48" long 90g tank, it needs a 0.7s pulse to get a wave going.

I do wave generation with two 6055s, so I don't have experience with a wavebox, but I'd think you're right - the pump would have to be off for water to fill the wavebox. Otherwise, it would just continually run it dry.

By the way, the first time I installed my Aquasurf, my AC3 wouldn't recognize any of the Aquasurf commands. I had to reboot the AC3 for it to start doing so.

After talking to Pampee yesterday, I was still not able to get a wave going. The pump does not even come on at all with the program i wrote. I cleared my entire programs and re-entered them. All plugs work when put in manual on/off.

Here is my programs that pertain to the functionality of these pumps.

tnz - (2) 6055
TNZ - 6100 (DIY Wavebox)

If Time > 12:00 --> MH1 ON
If Time > 10:00 --> VHO ON
If Time > 17:00 --> MH1 OFF
If Time > 21:00 --> VHO OFF
If tmr VHO = ON --> TZS PF4
If tmr VHO = OFF --> TZS OFF
If tmr MH1 = ON --> tzs PF1
If tmr MH1 = OFF --> tzs PF2

PF1
Pmp MODE sd for PF1
Pmp OSC 15/30/00 for PF1
Pmp Int 60/100

PF2
Pmp MODE sd for PF2
Pmp OSC 30/60/15 for PF2
Pmp Int 30/50 for PF2

PF4
Pmp MODE sD for PF4
Pmp OSC 12/12/00 for PF4
Pmp Int 000/100 for PF4

Post on rc in the Neptune's forums, I will check my script my tunzes and let you know

Already have. No response. I thought I could go to RC and get instant help, but that was not the case.

When I called them to walk me through updating my ACJr for AquaSurf, they talked to me like I was stupid. Made me feel uncomfortable.

The things that jump out to me:

- your timer names aren't consistent. Is that only from your post, or is this how it actually is in your program? For example, you use TNZ in your timer definition, but use TZS in your program.

- in PF1 and PF2, your pump mode uses a lowercase "d", which means the OSC parameters are in seconds as opposed to tenths of a second. This means that in PF1, for example, the pump will start off running at the starting intensity for 15 seconds before changing to the next state. Not sure if that's your intention. You need an uppercase "D" for the parameters to be in tenths of a second.

Other comments:

- to simplify things a bit, I start out with just one profile and get the wavebox working with that, then add the other profiles later.
- starting with just one profile, use 0 - 100 intensity so it's easy to see the pump changing state (assuming you can see the wavebox).
- would it be possible to see your entire program?

That was a typing error.

Yes that was my intention in the programing.

I am pressed for time, but i appreciate your help on this issue. [smilie=wink.gif] I will write down the entire programs when I get home tonight. The wavebox is also made from clear acrylic so it will be easy for me to see if it come on and off.

So looks like:

PF1
Pmp MODE sd for PF1
Pmp OSC 15/30/00 for PF1
Pmp Int 60/100

Becomes:

PF1
Pmp MODE sD for PF1
Pmp OSC 00/12/12 for PF1
Pmp Int 00/100

* If PF1 is for a wavebox on a 6' tank

Also check out Ken's website for more examples of commands. www.kenargo.com

Just like you overlooked how to do this in the manual.... [smilie=rofl.gif]

Is there any reason why it has to PF1 instead of the PF4 like I am using? Your confusing me Ron.

Also I am not using the example in the manual cause it is not correctly written.

Something I just thought of - are you using the right cables? They look like phone cables, but you need 2-line phone cables (with 4 conductors wired in). Many phone cables only have 2 conductors and won't work.

Yes using the correct cables.

All the pump work fine when all the channels are manually turned on and off.
