Aqua Traders?

Quality control still seems to be at issue. Some folks report fantastic results - even when they had to replace some parts they were still happy with the final cost - some folks say they got totally hosed.

One very HUGE thread (I think it has auto-split 4 or 5 times). Started with a discussion of Aqua Traders / Odyssea 4/2007. Has posts now on about any kind of lights / watts/ / ballast / reflector / diy and repair / ????.

There are occasionally newer threads on AT but most will ultiimately post a link to this thread.

aquatraders = junk...in this hobby cheap = poor quality...

when it comes to essential equipment for the tank go with quality products

I bought a light fixture from them. 150 watts x 3, plus actinics. Now, only one MH light fires. When I bought it I figured I would replace it down the road anyway. I guess I did

My recommendation would be to save your $$ and buy one off of the sale board. You can find some good deals on quality equipment.

i could honestly go either way, retro or fixture.

if i go fixture, 36". I'd either like to do 8x39 T5, or 175MH and 4x39MH.

Or, same stuff in a retro.

The only 36" T-5 8x that I know of are the ATI and Elos. Tek and Current USA come in 6x.

ATI and Elos will set you back around or over $1000.

Tek and Current around $300-450.

There are no fixtures with 4 MH in 3ft length.

Retro, you can configure however you want.

I have the 48" fixture from AT. I bought it knowing it wasn't the best on the market, but that was really all I could afford at the time. I'm actually pretty impressed with how well my corals do under it. I plan on upgrading the ballasts and bulbs when it hits around 8 months.

If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me.

id go retro if it were me. i ordered them and was not happy so switched to retro sets. you could do a retro set up for not too much more, maybe the same if you find a good used deal.
