I just purchased a Jr. with a DC8 and set it up two days ago on my son's 90 with the default program to get it started. It does not appear to be working. The heater is not keeping the temp at 78 and the lights are not going on-off per the program. Is there any way of checking the DC8 to see if it is functioning? The Jr. looks to be working as far as reading the tank temp., do not have a PH probe yet so it is reading below 5. The instructions are really lacking. The green light on the DC8 is on. :?

do a manual turn on on the lights, if they turn on then the dc8 is working...if not see that the dip switch is set for the correct dc8 assignment

Yes it does have the serial port. I will check the DIP's this evening. I assume that the different menues are accessed with the up and down buttons with the select button doing the actual selection. The manual is not very clear on this. It just says go to XXXX menu.

Download aquanotes lite, it's much easier to setup/operate with the software than the three buttons. I have the full version of aquanote's that I no longer need. It add's networking capability. lmk

Cheers,

But some things like email setup have to be done on the ac itself and a real PIA. I think most all the network items have to be done that way as well.

Well went over to my son's last night and tried the manual route and no luck. The DC8 dips are all in the off positions which the manual says is the position for the 1-8 locations and the default program addresses LT1 to A01. I am not trying to be fancy, just need the basics to get the system up and running. Do not need the serial port to set up and definitly do not need the full version of Aquanotes if it will not run the basic default program. Does anyone know the magic WORD to get it going?

Having just set up my first I'd be happy to help but you live on the other side of the world.

If I can't get some closer help I may bring the set-up to the meeting next Wednesday. We should be able to get the basic program set up and see it the DC8 is working at least.

Correct...I was talking mainly about the pogramming for lights etc., really controller programming. Shoulda been clearer I guess but my two fingers can only type so fast.

I can shoot over later on Dennis. Have you checked the phone cable end's to make sure everything is ok there, also connected to correct port.

Cheers,

Thanks Ron, I can bring it over to your place if that works better for you. The unit is at my son's apt. at Firewheel Mall and I can get it fairly easily.

May help you to label all of the outlets on DC8. We did quite a few sample program threads awhile back. Key thing is getting temp under control. remember ph probe goes out of calibration after 1 or 2 months. Be sure to test water or you may end up with hair algae problem.
