I have been searching for info on KH readings and how it works with PH... My PH is good but the KH reading is low... Got home last night and found 1/2 of a coral dieing [smilie=angry.gif] tested water with 2 different kits to make sure all pram is OK and both test have the KH low... This coral is a year old in the same place, no change in lights or time... lights are 3 months old... Not sure if the KH could affect this coral... all other corals are happy including the corals I just got from the frag swap.

Low Alk will definately affect you coral's, especially sps. http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issues/may2002/chem.htm

Cheers,

Ron, thanks... I believe I now have the basic understanding on why my tank has those PH swings but then equal out after a few days... I did increase the KH yesterday morning and when I returned home the coral was doing better [smilie=smile.gif]

I thought I knew..but after reading that article I need to go back to science class.. [smilie=thinking.gif] Boy that is hard reading, but good info.

might check to see if the test kit is expired.

i use api test kit as my main test kit and use elos to double check it every other weekend and both are in range of each other.
