Apex lite vs Apex jr

I want a reasonable controller. I would like temp, pH, and control with Ethernet. The problem with the Apex Jr is I have to get an expansion module for the pH. I plan to have either one connected to wifi so do I really need the display? Can I run (or even buy) the apex lite with the EB8 that doesn't come with the display module? Is this even a good idea?

I cannot find answers to these questions anywhere. Thanks for any help.

You will need the display, some actions are only available via the display unless you have most current software build. Also if you drop wireless internet service w/o the display, then you are out of luck without directly connecting a laptop/pc to the headunit. There is also no audible alarm without the display.

I actually called them up and spoke with them and they said they do not sell the Apex Lite without the display, because that's exactly what I was thinking too. I was thinking that the Apex Jr was fully controllable from your phone, and that when you set your settings they would stay there stored in memory, and assumed the Lite version would have the same capability.. so I didn't care about the display.

I just ordered the Apex Jr. without the display for my dad this week, so now I'm wondering if I should have gone the other way. I was under the impression that he would be fine with his Iphone and laptop as control units. He is mainly concerned with controlling his lights, heaters and possibly powerheads. So will he have to re-set all of his settings if his wireless network goes down? Will the unit send him a notification that he needs to re-set the settings? I was unaware of this if so. We might have to reconsider and order the display as well. Let me know what yall think.

Thanks

The jr should be ok w/o the display, he should be able to do all he needs to. The settings should remain within the memory of the head unit so a reset of setting should not be necessary. He can still setup a email notification for any parameter he want's to monitor.

Cheers,

Thanks for the info bimmerzs. I'll save up for the better controller. Is there any real benefit for me to get the Apex over the A-lite other than having the 0-10v control function? Seems I could spend that extra money on another EB8.
