Agreed, I've seen too many EB8s and other modules that have lots of rust from being mounted inside too close to a sump or where saltwater can get on it. You can mount the components to a wall behind the stand or, if you do mount it in the stand, provide some ventilation to move the humid air out and bring in fresh air from the room. I ended up setting up a divider under my stand for all my electronics and added a vent fan. It is has been going for about 1.5 years and no signs of rust or corrosion.
The Apex Lite on my QT and associated electronics are just mounted on a board next to the tank but appearances don't matter for that setup. Nevertheless, the stuff is close by but exposed to open air so the stuff doesn't rust.
