Anyone keep TwinSpot Gobies?

I purchased a Tiwn Spot Goby yesterday. I've been wanting one for a while. He took to munching on my sandbed almost immediately after he was released in my tank, which I took to be a good sign. He is awfully skinny though.

Anyone have any good suggestions for fattening him up or will the critters in my sandbed be sufficient? It's only a 10 gallon tank, but I do have 2 HOB filters with Macroalgae and sand in them so as to serve as refugiums.

Also any other suggestions for supplementary feeding?

Twin spot gobies are hard to keep. I have tried, I wish you luck. I have heard different stories about keeping them in pairs and also they need a lot to eat. So, your sand bed will need to be thick to help this little guy. BOL!

Now the joke looks even wierder, because moderators delete double posts. :)

Those posts like tripled Anthony's post count

I have never tried to keep them but have only known a few that lived longer then 6 months. If you can get them eating mysis and feed them a lot you have a shot.

i tried twice with no luck....i made a feeding tube that would get food down to the sand bed and could release a little shrimp at a time to float by him....he would eat pretty good that way but i think it is one of those fish that eats all day.....cool fish with a lot of personality and always sifting

Alright, thanks for the tip. I will definitely pick up some Mysis then. I'll find a decent sized syringe I can stick some airline hose on.

i used a syringe used for injecting turkeys before you fry them...air line hose fit right on it....i did have to tape a large straw to the syringe to keep the hose from curling...i just ran the hose on the inside of the staw and left a small curl at the end to point at the goby.....the second one i had was pretty fiesty and would flare the "crab face" at the hose but would spin back around and eat once the food started coming...

Or you can use rigid airline tubing.

Well, so far so good. He's pretty good about swimming up to catch Brine and Mysis Shrimp when I squirt some into the tank for my Torch coral and Neon Goby. He does constantly sift sand and picks up any small Mysis chunks that may settle on the sand.

I'm going to be transferring the tank into a 30 gallon pretty soon. At least as soon as I can transfer the 30 gallons residents into the girlfriends bigger tank and get it somewhat established. Might be a couple of months, but he really seems to be happy and smart enough to not pass up an opportunity to eat the small shrimp. I'd rather him have a larger tank to supply him with more critters to graze the sand for even though I'm pretty pleased with how well my 10 gallon has worked out.

Ha! The little bugger likes flake food. He swims up and catches any particles of flake or frozen mysis that flow by in the current.
